The Descent

01

The Energy

We're gonna get right into it with some raw honesty...

This week I've felt it. Not in the abstract. Not as a concept I teach. I have been literally feeling it in my body. Someone I love has been intentionally looking at the noise of the world. The news, the projections, the realities of our times... the collective uncertainty that is very much in the air right now. And even with every tool I have, even with everything I know and practice and teach... I can't help but feel the edges of someone so close's frequency finding the edges of mine.

Not dramatically. Not a crisis. Just as a subtle static. Like a tuning fork that finds a discordant frequency, you can always hear its vibration waver.

And here's the reminder we can all use in those moments: that didn't mean I'd fallen off. It simply meant I'm human. It meant I'm connected. It meant I love someone and feel their heart (and that part is beautiful).

But it also meant I still have work to do.

We talk a lot about being in the world, but not of it. It's one of those phrases that shows up across so many wisdom traditions it's almost impossible to trace... because every lineage has arrived at the same truth. You can be fully present. Fully feeling. Fully connected to the people and the world around you. And still remain anchored in your own frequency. Your own knowing. Your own truth about where things are going and what you are here to do.

That's not detachment. That's not spiritual bypassing. That's possibly the most advanced practice there is.

This week the cosmic energy is asking all of us to go inward. To feel what's actually present. To stop looking outside for confirmation of what we already know inside. The shadow is making itself known. Collectively and personally. And that's not something to rush through or fix or scroll past.

It's something to descend into. Deliberately. Courageously. With your frequency as your compass.

Because what's on the other side of this metaphorical descent is a new way of operating. We have a new moon in Aries on Friday. An energy that isn't asking for cute little wishes. It wants your truth. It wants to know if you're actually in this.

So. Are you? Are you in it with me this week? Are you ready?

02

The Teaching

Let's start with a question that might sting a little. Don't worry, I've got you. We're doing this together.

What if the problem you keep trying to fix... is still here because part of you needs it to be?

Not because you're broken. Not because you're weak or doing the work wrong. But because somewhere underneath the frustration and the genuine desire for a new experience of life, some layer of you is getting something from it. Safety. Identity. Proof of a story you've been telling so long it feels like truth. A reason not to risk truly moving toward the thing you actually want.

Carolyn Elliott calls this existential kink. And her book by the same name is worth every uncomfortable page. The core idea is this: what we resist persists not just because of fear, but because some part of us is secretly, kinkily enjoying it. The familiarity. The payoff. The way it keeps us exactly where we are. The way it allows us to keep playing small.

This isn't self blame. It's actually the most compassionate reframe there is. Because if the problem is serving you somehow... then the moment it stops being useful, the pattern loses its reason to stay. The grip releases. It loses its power.

That's not discipline. That's not willpower. That's transmutation. THAT's how we reclaim our true authentic self. Our frequency.

And here's where I want to slow down...

Because we throw the word "transformation" around so casually that it's lost some of its oomph. So let's look at what these words we use for our growth processes actually mean. Because language, as we talked about last week, is a spell. And the word you use for what you're moving through matters.

Change is surface. You behave differently. You choose differently. The form stays essentially the same. Change is useful and real and sometimes exactly what's needed. But it's not what we're talking about this week.

Transformation comes from the Latin transformare. Trans: across, beyond, through. Formare: to form, to shape, from forma, meaning essential nature. So transformation literally means to move your essential nature through and beyond itself. Wayne Dyer spent a lifetime teaching this. You don't just do differently. You become different. The form itself shifts.

Metamorphosis goes further still. Inside the chrysalis the caterpillar doesn't grow wings. It dissolves. Completely. There is a period of being entirely unrecognizable, even to itself, before it reforms as something new. If you have ever been in that place where you couldn't quite remember who you were or what you believed or what you wanted (ahem, like all of 2025 and that wild year of the snake!)... you weren't lost. You were in the chrysalis. That's not a crisis. That's the process.

Transmutation is the alchemical word. Lead into gold. Not lead becoming shinier lead. A fundamental change in the nature of the substance itself. This is what happens when you stop fighting the shadow and start working with it. When you examine what the problem has been giving you, thank it for its service, and release it. The very material of your experience changes.

So which one are you in right now?

Because here's the thing about all four of these phases of your personal evolution. None of them happen from the outside. None of them happen just by managing your reactions better or consuming the right content or thinking more positively. They happen in the descent. In the willingness to go into the part of yourself you haven't fully met yet. The wound. The shadow. The pattern you keep bumping into.

That's the work. Not talking about it. Not understanding it intellectually. Going into it.

And doing that while the world is loud and your loved ones are scared and the news is doing what the news does... that's where "in the world, but not of it" stops being a beautiful concept and becomes an actual practice. You feel it all. You let it move through you. You examine what it's showing you. And you stay rooted in your own frequency. Your own knowing. Your own truth.

That's not bypassing the world's pain. That's being steady enough to actually hold space for it.

That's Deep Frequency Living. That's powerful transmutation in real time.

03

The Invitation

So how do you actually do this?

How do you get honest about what a pattern is giving you when part of the whole deal is that you can't see it clearly from inside it?

Start here. Notice where you're frustrated. And more specifically, notice where you're being a victim. Ouch. I know.

That might sting. Stay with it.

Listen for the thoughts that sound like: this always happens to me. Why am I back here again? Why is this still my struggle? That language is a signal. Not proof that you're broken or cursed or doing it wrong. A signal that something underneath is ready to be seen. The shadow doesn't announce itself politely. It shows up as exhaustion that has no logical cause. A short fuse. Emotions that feel closer to the surface than usual. The creeping feeling that everyone around you is upset with you... when really they're just living their own lives in their own worlds, and you're upset with you.

Sound familiar? Good. That's the beginning.

Now get it out of your head and let it be seen.

For me that looks like journaling first. Not pretty journaling. Not gratitude lists. The messy kind where you just let it all come out on the page without editing or performing. A voice note works too, if you don't like pen to paper. However you do it, let the shadow speak. Ask it directly: what are you giving me? What would I have to risk if you weren't here? What story am I protecting?

I also talk to myself. Yep. Out loud. All sides of the conversation. I'm a Libra with an almost pathological need to examine every angle and this is how I do it. I give every part of me a voice until something lands as true. It might look unhinged from the outside. I've decided I'm okay with that. I think I'd look far more unhinged if I denied myself this freedom.

Then the body gets involved. Because at some point the mind has taken it as far as it can and the energy needs a physical release. Walking. Yoga. Somatic movement. Breathwork. Sound, whether that's a sound bath, toning, humming, or just sighing loudly and repeatedly until something shifts. Sometimes it's one of these. When it's really sticky it's all of them, layered, and it takes time. It needs space.

And sometimes the most radical practice is sleep. Making rest a non-negotiable because dreams have a way of showing you what the waking mind is too defended to see. If you're in a descent right now, sleep is not laziness. It's data collection.

An important note here: transmutation is not a moment. It's not a breakthrough in a single journaling session or one really good yoga class. It's a process. It has its own timeline. And trying to rush it, thinking it should be moved through in a day... is often the thing that keeps you stuck.

What you can do is show up for the process. Notice the signal. Get it onto the page, out of the body. Give it movement and time and rest. And trust that when the problem is no longer useful to you, the pattern loses its reason to stay.

Remember, the new moon in Aries coming on Friday just wants your truth. She wants to know if you've done the work. Not perfectly. Not completely. But honestly.

So this week: descend. Deliberately. With your frequency as your compass. And trust that what's waiting to be revealed in the shadows is a version of you that the old pattern simply doesn't fit anymore.

That's not change. That's not even transformation. That's transmutation. And you're already in it.
