One Degree at a Time
The Energy
I've been having a recurring vision while I sit in my morning meditations lately and I've been hesitant to share it because I wasn't sure how to translate it into something useful. This morning it landed.
I can see the night sky full of clear bright stars that morph into points on a dial, a dial that can be turned and moved, one degree at a time, with each click pointing to a new timeline, a different channel...
There are clicks that feel like soft shoulders, open chest, a lightness in the crown. The sensation of peace that feels like home, alignment. And sometimes the dial doesn't click into place and there's static, noise, and grainy picture. Crowded thoughts, constant repeated loops of discontent.
Which is exactly what frequency is.
The Teaching
Frequentia. Latin for crowded. Multitude. A throng pressing in from every side.
Frequens. Often, regular, repeated, in great numbers.
Before frequency ever meant a wave or a station or a number of cycles per second, it meant too many things happening at once, close together, without space between them.
Then in 1831, physics took the word and pointed it somewhere new. Frequency stopped being about how many. It became about how fast something moves back and forth in place. A vibration. A pulse. The rate at which a string, a wave, a body returns to itself.
Then it landed in a telegraph wire. Then a radio band. By the time anyone's turning a dial to find a station, frequency has already stopped meaning crowd and started meaning signal.
But a radio doesn't choose. It sits there receiving whatever's already moving through the air around it, static or clarity, it has no preference and no say. Point it at a noisy signal and it plays noise. It doesn't know there's a difference.
And your human consciousness isn't that. It's the only receiver that has a built-in hand to turn the dial.
We're not just tuned, we're tuning. Your body is both antenna and operator, receiving a frequency and capable of noticing when the picture goes grainy, when the thoughts start looping, when something in the chest tightens like static. That noticing is the hand finding the dial. The choosing is what no piece of technology before us has ever been able to do.
The Invitation
Pause here. Before anything else, just notice. Shoulders, jaw, the space behind your sternum. Static, or clear. Don't fix it yet, just find it.
Name what's actually there. Not the story, the sensation. A swarm of thoughts pressing in. A loop playing the same track. Tightness, bracing, a choppy breath you didn't clock until now. Whatever it is, let it be exactly that specific.
Now the hand on the dial. Breathe in for four counts. Hold for seven. Release for eight, slow, like you're fogging a window. Twice more. This isn't about getting somewhere, it's the mechanism itself, the one tool built into you that works in both directions, tightening when ignored, shifting the second it's given attention.
Something moves. Maybe small, maybe not. The shoulders drop a half inch. The lump in your throat releases. The loop skips a beat. That's the click, the dial finding a new degree.
Which channel were you actually on, before you paused to check? And here you get to choose. Not the whole dial at once, one degree. Not just what you're receiving, what you're broadcasting. Move it one click. Then notice what shows up next.
