On Your Own Time
The Energy
This week's Deep Frequency Transmission is landing in your inbox 'late' because I was on the road again. New Mexico desert. Colorado forests. Paddle boarding with my partner's grandbabies, an incredible show at Red Rocks, nights sleeping under the stars in the woods.
The kind of days where your phone doesn't even exist. No posting. No marketing. No need to manage the edges of being in do mode.
And while I was playing in the water and the trees and the presence of little ones, I was reminded of the intelligence of kids and nature, two of the simplest, greatest teachers we have. Not because they're wise in the way we think of wisdom. But because they're unapologetic about what they need. A child sleeps when her body is tired. A tree grows and releases its leaves when the seasons call for it. Neither asks permission. Neither performs productivity around it. They just... honor their natural cycles as they appear.
We, the grown up and programmed people, have forgotten how to do that. But being in that naturalness, feeling my partner's four-year-old granddaughter fall asleep on my lap after paddleboarding… hearing her say in her tiny little princess voice on the ride home, "That was such a good nap. My body feels fully charged now." That was a powerful declaration from a very unfiltered child.
The Teaching
A child sleeps when her body is tired. A tree releases when the season calls. Neither asks permission. Neither performs productivity around it. They honor their natural cycles as they appear.
Once we reach adulthood, we've trained ourselves into a different way. Should has made us rigid. Should says rest is something you earn. Should says being on your own timeline is selfish or undisciplined. Should says you show up when you're scheduled, even if your body is aching for something else.
Whose schedule are you actually on? Whose timeline have you been honoring instead of your own? When did you hand your inner guidance over to external permission?
The solstice is a threshold. A tipping point. A moment where the light shifts and we're offered a choice: keep living the prescribed life, or finally start honoring your own unique rhythm. You don't have to apologize for what your body needs. You don't have to justify rest. You don't have to perform your way into permission.
Your body knows. Your spirit knows. The only thing left is to listen.
The Invitation
This week, as we approach the solstice, notice where you've lost your child-like connection to yourself. Where you're asking permission instead of listening. Where someone else's timeline has more weight than your own inner knowing.
Notice the rigidity. Feel it. Let the sensation of discomfort rise. Then notice what it would feel like to let it go. Exhale. Repeat as many times as it takes to recognize the little you inside again.
Reconnecting to that original version of you takes practice but when you drop the voices of the outer world and find it, it will tell you what it needs. A nap. A walk. A day off the grid. Rest that doesn't need to be earned or explained or justified.
Can you honor that? Just this week, can you try? AND, can you give yourself grace when it takes more than a few attempts?
You do know what it feels like when your body is fully charged. It may be buried very, very deep but it exists somewhere. You saw it, heard it, felt it, or at least got a glimpse of it in a four-year-old's matter-of-fact declaration. That's not wisdom she learned. That's wisdom she hasn't unlearned… and hopefully in her generation it stands a better chance of being preserved.
But this is about you. That original you is still in you. You absolutely can find it again. Give yourself permission.
